*Digitaria ciliaris (Retzius) Koeler. Common name: Southern Crab Grass. Phenology: Aug-Oct (-Jul). Habitat: Sandy fields, roadsides, and disturbed areas. Distribution: MA, se. NY, OH, IN, IL, IA, NE, s. UT and s. CA south into Mexico, Central America, South America, and the West Indies. Probably not native to the New World. At least some of the northern distribution is likely adventive. Among the most abundant and widespread of the Digitaria in our region.
