Digitaria villosa (Walter) Persoon. Common name: Shaggy Crabgrass. Phenology: Sep-Oct. Habitat: Longleaf pine sandhills, dry pine flatwoods, glades, dry prairies, dry hammocks, dunes, sandy fields, roadsides, other disturbed habitats. Distribution: Virginia, Tennessee, Illinois, and Missouri south to s. Florida and Texas; Mexico and Central America; West Indies.

Taxonomy Comments: Nichols et al. (2024) reevaluated the taxonomy of the Digitaria filiformis complex; we follow their decision to treat D. villosa at species rank.
