Cyperus excurrens J.R. Carter & P.D. Lowe. Common name: Excurrent Flatsedge. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Sporadically appearing in exsiccated bottoms of karst ponds in the Coastal Plain. Distribution: Known only from sw. GA, perhaps to be expected in se. AL and FL Panhandle.
ID notes: Similar to the widely distributed C. strigosus, from which it differs notably in its restricted habitat, annual habit, diminutive stature, and floral scales with an excurved mucro.
