*Cenchrus purpureus (Schumacher) Morrone. Common name: Elephant Grass, Napier Grass. Phenology: Aug-Mar. Habitat: Swamps, wet grasslands, disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of Africa. Naturalized in FL north to the FL-GA border, and in AL (Diamond & Woods 2009).
ID notes: A giant grass, to 4 m tall.
