*Mahonia bealei (Fortune) Carrière. Section: Longibracteatae. Leatherleaf Mahonia, Chinese Mahonia, Holly-grape. Phen: Dec-Mar; May-Jul. Hab: In deciduous forests in suburban areas, spread from plantings. Dist: Native of China. Naturalizing widely (and increasingly aggressively) in the southeastern United States.
