Clematis viorna Linnaeus. Subgenus: Viorna. Northern Leatherflower, Vase-vine. Phen: May-Sep. Hab: Mesic forests, woodlands, thickets, especially over calcareous or mafic rocks. Dist: PA, IL, and MO south to GA and AR.
