not marked as a favorite taxon Ranunculus fascicularis Muhlenberg ex Bigelow. Common name: Thick-root Buttercup, Early Buttercup. Phenology: Feb-May; Mar-Jun. Habitat: Wet flats with prairie affinities (with Camassia scilloides), rocky barrens and glades over mafic rocks (such as gabbro or diabase), ultramafic outcrop barrens (over olivine), limestone barrens, prairies, oak savannas. Distribution: Massachusetts and New York west to s. Ontario, Minnesota, and se. Manitoba, south to c. North Carolina, nc. South Carolina, sw. Georgia, and e. Texas; occurrences which are both south of New England and east of the Appalachians are scattered and disjunct.
