Hab: Wet flats with prairie affinities (with Camassia scilloides), rocky barrens and glades over mafic rocks (such as gabbro or diabase), ultramafic outcrop barrens (over olivine), limestone barrens, prairies, oak savannas. Dist: MA and NY west to s. ON, MN, and se. MB, south to c. NC, nc. SC, sw. GA, and e. TX; occurrences which are both south of New England and east of the Appalachians are scattered and disjunct.
