Introduced and at least weakly naturalized south to MD (Kartesz 1999) and e. WV (Morton et al. 2004).

Taxonomy Comments: Pinus sylvestris has 5 varieties recognized in its native range; only var. sylvestris has apparently been introduced in North America (POWO (2024).
