Habitat: Swamp forests, bottomlands, maritime forests and thickets, rock outcrops, mesic forests. Distribution: ME west to IA and NE, south to s. FL and TX; West Indies (Bahamas, Cuba); Mexico and Central America (El Salvador, Guatemala).
