Baptisia elliptica Small. Phenology: Apr-May. Habitat: Longleaf pine sandhills. Distribution: Panhandle FL and adjacent s. AL; disjunct in c. peninsular FL.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Two forms have been recognized, the "narrow-leaved form", endemic to the Apalachicola Lowlands portion of the FL Panhandle, and the "typical form", occupying the FL Panhandle, s. AL, and disjunct in c. peninsular FL (Isely 1981). Mendenhall (1994b) included broad-leaved and narrow-leaved forms of var. tomentosa in her study, which provided some support for the taxonomic recognition of these unnamed entities.
