Desmodium glabellum (Michaux) A.P. de Candolle. Common name: Tall Tick-trefoil. Phenology: Jun-Sep; Aug-Oct. Habitat: Fields, woodland borders, disturbed areas. Distribution: ME west to WI and NE, south to n. peninsular FL and TX.

Horticultural Information
Intro: Erect to spreading perennial of various moist to dry habitats, including floodplain forests, open upland forests, woodlands, old fields, clearings and roadsides.
Stems: Stems 1-several from a crown, unbranched, covered in curly hairs.
Leaves: Leaves alternate and on petioles with tiny, triangular stipules; divided into 3 oval to elliptic leaflets, each 1-2 in. long and darker and less hairy above and paler and more hairy beneath.
Inforescence:
Flowers: Flowers stalked and loosely arranged on spreading branches, purplish-pink, about 1/4 in. long, bilaterally symmetric and with typical pea-flower shape.
Fruits: Fruit a flattened pod with constrictions between 3-5 seeds, covered with hooked hairs that stick to clothing and fur.
