not marked as a favorite taxon Robinia hispida Linnaeus var. kelseyi (Cowell ex Hutchinson) Isely. Common name: Kelsey's Locust. Phenology: Apr-Jul; Jul-Oct. Habitat: Mountain woodlands, introduced elsewhere. Distribution: Traditionally considered an endemic originally restricted to w. NC, but Cronquist (1980) and Isely & Peabody (1984) suggest that var. kelseyi may have been only of horticultural origin.
