Senega polygama (Walter) J.F.B. Pastore & J.R. Abbott. Subgenus: Senega. Section: Cleistogamae. Common name: Bitter Milkwort, Racemed Milkwort. Phenology: May-Jul; Jun-Jul. Habitat: Longleaf pine sandhills, woodlands, woodland borders. Distribution: NS, ON, and MN south to s. FL and TX.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Two varieties are sometimes recognized in this species in Polygala (var. obtusata and polygama).
