Glossary (beta)

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: D. floribunda is part of the D. fruticosa complex -- which is widespread in northern parts of North America and Eurasia. The Dasiphora fruticosa complex is poorly understood at present and needs critical study; for now it seems best to follow Klackenberg's (1983) decision that there are at least several broadly distributed species and very possibly other narrower endemics, especially in Asia. D. floribunda is diploid and monoecious, and occurs in the western and northern parts of North America, south to n. NJ, e. and n. PA, s. OH, IN, IL, IA, SD, NM, AZ, and CA; it also occurs in Siberia and s. Europe and w. Asia (Caucasus, Pyrenees). Other components of the complex are tetraploid and dioecious.
