Alnus maritima (Marshall) Muhlenberg ex Nuttall ssp. maritima. Common name: Seaside Alder, Delmarva Alder. Phenology: Jul; mid Aug-early Oct. Habitat: Ecotones between fresh tidal marshes and tidal swamps, open-canopy Atlantic white cedar swamps, streambanks, ponds, shores. Distribution: Endemic to five counties in the Delmarva Peninsula of MD and DE.
