*Orychophragmus violaceus (Linnaeus) O.E. Schulz. Common name: Purple-mistress. Phenology: Mar-May. Habitat: Railroad rights-of-way, other disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of Mediterranean Europe. Introduced and apparently well established in and around Richmond, VA; originally reported as Moricandia arvensis (Rollins 1993), a misidentification.

Origin/Endemic status: Mediterranean Europe and Africa

Synonymy : = FNA7, K4, Va; = n/a — C; >< Moricandia arvensis (L.) DC. — Rollins (1993), misidentification. Basionym: Brassica violacea L. 1753
