Sabulina fontinalis (Short & R. Peter) Dillenberger & Kadereit. Seepage Starwort, Water Starwort. Phen: Mar-May. Hab: Seepages and wet cliffs, disturbed areas, over calcareous substrate, growing from moss mats; rarely in lawns. Dist: C. TN (Chester, Wofford, & Kral 1997) and c. KY; disjunct in the Black Belt of AL (B. Keener, pers. comm., 2023).

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: The generic placement of this species has traditionally been very controversial and uncertain (six genera!; see synonymy), but is resolved by recent data (Dillenberger & Kadereit 2014; Schilling et al. 2022). See Rabeler & Reznicek (2016) for an account of the species’ history and its typification.
