Potamogeton praelongus Wulfen. Common name: Whitestem Pondweed. Phenology: Jun-Jul. Habitat: In lakes in deep water. Distribution: Circumboreal, southward in North America to CT, s. NY, n. PA, n. IN, n. IA, NE, CO, UT, and n. CA. P. praelongus just extends into the northern part of our flora region. It is probably extant in n. PA, but needs further surveying in this area (C. Ciafre, personal communication).
