Intro: Herbaceous annual vine of river banks, marshes, swamps, fields, roadsides and disturbed areas.

Stems: Stems twining or trailing, smooth or slightly hairy.

Leaves: Leaves alternate, petiolate, heart-shaped with a deep notch at the base or angular to 3-lobed, 2-4 in. long, with scattered white hairs above.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers in clusters of 1-5 from leaf axils; white (occasionally pink or pale purple); 5/8-1 in. wide; consisting of a funnel-shaped corolla with 5 short lobes at the rim, a calyx of 5 hairy, lance-shaped sepals, and 5 stamens with purple anthers.

Fruits: Fruit a round capsule.
