*Ipomoea muricata (Linnaeus) Jacquin. Common name: Lilacbell, Purple Moonflower. Phenology: Jun-Nov. Habitat: Fields, disturbed areas; native (apparently) of Mexico. Distribution: Austin & Jansson (1988) discussed the species’ spread in se. United States, apparently as a contaminant in soybean seeds.

Origin/Endemic status: Neotropics

Taxonomy Comments: Staples et al. (2005) reinstated the name I. muricata.

Synonymy : = Fl6, FNA14, K4, Meso4.2, Tx, WH3, Wood et al (2020b); = Convolvulus muricatus L. = Ipomoea turbinata Lag. — Austin & Huáman (1996), Austin (1984), misapplied; = n/a — C, RAB; ~ Ipomoea capillacea (Kunth) G.Don. Basionym: Convolvulus muricatus L. 1767
