*Ipomoea multifida (Rafinesque) Shinners. Cardinal Climber. Phen: Jun-Dec. Hab: Cultivated and escaping or persistent locally near plantings. Dist: Horticulturally-derived hybrid of a tropical American (I. quamoclit) and Southeastern US (I. coccinea) parents.

Origin/Endemic status: Garden origin

Taxonomy Comments: Horticulturally-derived hybrid of a tropical American (I. quamoclit) and Southeastern US (I. coccinea) parents. Austin (2023m) made a distinction between diploid Ipomoea ×multifida and the tetraploid derived from it, Ipomoea sloteri. WE combine the two under the older name.
