Trillium maculatum Rafinesque. Subgenus: Sessilia. Mottled Trillium, Spotted Trillium. Phen: Jan-Mar (-mid Apr). Hab: Rich forests and floodplains, over calcareous materials such as coquina limestone ("marl") or on shell middens. Dist: S. SC south to n. FL, west to sc. AL

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: Petals maroon or yellow.
