Isoetes melanospora Engelmann. Common name: Black-spored Quillwort. Habitat: In pools on granite flatrocks. Distribution: Endemic to GA. Material previously attributed here from Forty Acre Rock, SC, is a new species.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: A diploid species (2n=22).

Synonymy : = NS, POWO, S13, Sf, Musselman (2001); < Isoetes melanopoda Gay & Durieu ex Durieu — RAB; < Isoetes melanospora Engelm. — FNA2, K4. Basionym: Isoetes melanospora Engelm. 1877
