Intro: Creeping to erect annual of moist, disturbed habitats such as lawns, fields, successional forests and well-drained floodplain forests.
Stems: Stems branched at the base, hairy.
Leaves: Leaves alternate (upper) and opposite (lower), petiolate, oval or kidney-shaped in outline but with 3-5 lobes, 1/4-3/4 in. long, bristly-hairy.
Inforescence:
Flowers: Flowers solitary on short stalks from leaf axils, light lavender to pale blue and sometimes with darker lines, less than 1/2 in. wide, bilaterally symmetric, consisting of 4 tiny petals, 3 of which are about the same size and the fourth slightly smaller.
Fruits: Fruit a heart-shaped capsule.
