*Phelipanche ramosa (Linnaeus) Pomel. Branching Broomrape, Hemp Broomrape. Phen: Feb-Apr; Jul-Sep. Hab: Disturbed areas, mowed road verges and medians. Dist: Native of Asia. Reported for Hamilton County, TN in 2022 (J. Shaw, pers.comm. 2022). Reported for LA (Caddo and Jefferson Davis parishes) (Kelley & Hamsher 2022).

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Taxonomy Comments: As discussed by Musselman (1984), the identity of the sole NC record (collected in 1884) is somewhat presumptive, and the precise location uncertain.

Other Comments: An infestation of this serious weed was discovered in 2007 at a car wash in urban Norfolk, VA (Musselman & Bolin 2008). Reported for AL (Diamond (2016).
