Myzorrhiza ludoviciana (Nuttall) Rydberg. Common name: Prairie Broomrape. Phenology: Apr-Aug. Habitat: Deep sands, pastures, upland areas, and glades, parasitic on perennial composites such as Grindelia, Artemisia, and Heterotheca. Distribution: SK and BC south to MO, w. TX, AZ, and Mexico.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Other Comments: Reports of this species further east are apparently based on the more recently named "Orobanche riparia" = Myzorrhiza species 1.
