MS, s. LA, and c. and s. TX.

Taxonomy Comments: This species badly needs taxonomic re-evaluation, looking at variation (some previously recognized -- see synonymy) across its wide and fragmented distribution.

Other Comments: Piedmont plants of NC and SC are uniformly white-flowered.
