Symphyotrichum patens (Aiton) Nesom var. terranigrum J.J.N. Campbell & W.R. Seymour. Common name: Black Belt Clasping Aster. Habitat: Prairies and woodlands. Distribution: Distribution centered in the AL-MS Black Belt, but allegedly with scattered occurrences over a more widespread area of the Southeastern United States
