*Centaurea melitensis Linnaeus. Common name: Maltese Star-thistle, Tocalote. Phenology: Jun-Sep. Habitat: Roadsides, disturbed areas, eastwards as a ballast and mill waif (waste areas near wool-combing mills, ballast near old seaports). Distribution: Native of Mediterranean Europe and Africa.
