Dracopis amplexicaulis (Vahl) Cassini. Common name: Clasping Coneflower. Phenology: (May-) Jul-Sep. Habitat: Prairies, calcareous bottomlands, dry open areas, disturbed areas, waste areas near wool-combing mill; introduced in part in our area. Distribution: Native to prairie-like areas and calcareous bottomlands from GA (?) and AL west to KS and TX; reported for nc. GA (Jones & Coile 1988) and introduced in SC (Nesom 2004d).
