Helianthus radula (Pursh) Torrey & A. Gray. Roundleaf Sunflower, Rayless Sunflower. Phen: Late Aug-Oct. Hab: Longleaf pine sandhills and dryish savannas, and dry pine flatwoods. Dist: S. SC south to s. peninsular FL and west to se. LA

ID notes: It is readily distinguishable from all other species of Helianthus by its rosette of orbicular to nearly round leaves, borne flat against the ground.
