*Abelia R. Brown. Abelia.

A genus of about 30-40 species, shrubs, primarily of s. and e. Asia. Generic circumscription has been controversial, with a radical lumping proposed by Christenhusz (2013), but not widely supported (Wang et al. 2015, and others). We here circumscribe it narrowly.
