Solidago sempervirens Linnaeus. Subgenus: Pleiactila. Section: Maritimae. Common name: Northern Seaside Goldenrod. Phenology: Late Aug-Nov. Habitat: Coastal dunes, dune slacks, maritime wet grasslands, tidal marshes. Distribution: NL (Newfoundland) south to ne. NC along the coast (and introduced inland in saline situations such as along salted roadways); isolated more southern occurrences likely reflect introductions.

plant sale text: Seaside goldenrod produces upright plumes of flowers, a little later and also a little taller than most goldenrods. This is one of the finest fall-flowering nectar-producing plants to include in your garden. Seaside goldenrod grows on coastal dunes and thrives even in pure sand. It also grows well inland in average soils. This species spreads by runners over time, so plant it where this trait will not be a problem. If planted in overly rich soils, seaside goldenrod has a tendency to flop. Drought-resistant once established. The genus Solidago supports up to 112 lepidoptera species.
