plant sale text: Common blue wood aster is a stout leafy plant with branched, upright-arching stems. It prefers part shade but will tolerate a wide range of conditions from nearly full shade to full sun. In the late summer and into early fall, it explodes with dense clusters of small pale blue flowers with yellow centers. The flowering stems can be cut and used as fillers in larger flower arrangements. The species name cordifolium refers to the heart-shaped leaves of the lower portion of the stems.
