Symphyotrichum rhiannon Weakley & Govus. Common name: Buck Creek Aster, Rhiannon's Aster. Phenology: Oct-Nov. Habitat: Ultramafic outcrop barren. Distribution: Endemic (as far as is known) to the Buck Creek Serpentine Barren, Clay County, NC.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Showing some similarities to S. puniceum and S. prenanthoides, but unique in many characters. This endemic species was first noticed by Mansberg & Wentworth (1984) and later studied and described in Kauffman et al. (2004), which see for additional and detailed information.
