Symphyotrichum patens (Aiton) Nesom var. patentissimum (Lindley ex A.P. de Candolle) Nesom. Common name: Ozark Clasping Aster. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Glades, upland prairies, woodlands, forest edges. Distribution: Var. patentissimum is largely Ozarkian, east to scattered locations in w. KY.
