Rumex Linnaeus. Subfamily: Polygonoideae. Tribe: Rumiceae. Common name: Dock.

Key to Rumex

A genus of about 200 species, perennial and annual herbs (and a few shrubs), of cosmopolitan distribution. Rumex should likely be (re)split with Acetosa accorded genus rank, a course strongly supported by the results (but not the rhetoric) of Koenemann, Kistler, & Burke (2023). We recognize Acetosa and Rumex at generic rank.

ID notes: Pedicel measurements include the true pedicel (below the joint) and the pseudopedicel (the stipe-like hypanthium above the joint or articulation).

  4. Please do not send us feedback about unkeyed species as this work is ongoing.
  5. Please allow time for flora edits to show in our next data release. We greatly appreciate your feedback but may require extra time to research complicated taxonomic issues.
