Contributed by Alan S. Weakley and Scott G. Ward
A genus of about 140-180 species, of tropical and warm temperate regions. The genus circumscription has been in flux, and problems remain. We here include Paspalidium in Setaria, following recent molecular analyses and older opinions (Webster 1995; Delfini et al. 2023).
Subfamily: Panicoideae. Tribe: Paniceae. Subtribe: Cenchrinae. supertribe: Panicodae. clade: "PACMAD".References: Allen (2003a) In Flora of North America Editorial Committee (2003a); Crins (1991); Delfini et al.
