Sonchus
*Sonchus Linnaeus. Common name: Sow-thistle, Milk-thistle.
A genus of about 50-60 species, herbs and shrubs, of the Old World.
Subfamily: Cichorioideae. Tribe: Cichorieae. Subtribe: Hyoseridinae.ID notes: Distinguished from Lactuca by its beakless cypselae. Sonchus also tends to have more florets per head (often 80+).
