*Bowlesia incana Ruiz & Pavón. Common name: Hoary Bowlesia. Phenology: Feb-Jun. Habitat: Open wet hammocks and bottomlands, suburban woodlands, urban waste areas. Distribution: Probably native only of South America, but the native distribution of this species is uncertain and is sometimes considered to include Central America, Mexico and even the sw. United States. Reported from multiple locations in SC (Bradley et al. [in prep.]).
