Clematis subreticulata (Harbison ex Small) Harbison ex T. Murphy & D. Estes. Common name: Alabama Leatherflower. Phenology: Late Apr-mid Jun. Habitat: Rocky pine-oak woodlands, montane longleaf pine savannas, sandstone river-scour shrublands, xeric sandstone outcrop and glades, sandy bluffs and river banks. Distribution: Sc. TN, ne. MS, c. and n. AL, and wc. GA.

Taxonomy Comments: See Murphy (2020). The citation including "Harbison ex T. Murphy & D. Estes" reflects Harbison's intent (expressed on herbarium specimen annotations) that the species should be recognized in the genus Clematis.
