Crataegus padifolia Sargent. Common name: Cherry-leaf Hawthorn. Phenology: Apr. Habitat: Rocky woodlands, brushland, streamsides. Distribution: S. MO, e. OK, AR.
Origin/Endemic status: Endemic
Taxonomy Comments: This western species of Intricatae reflects three forms marginally distinctive and perhaps conspecific. The typical form in MO and AR has mostly unlobed leaves, and in OK there is a smaller-leaved form, C. pagensis Sargent; forms with slightly lobed leaves occur across the range and these have been considered var. incarnata Sargent; all are here considered in synonymy.
Synonymy ⓘ: > Crataegus padifolia Sarg. var. incarnata Sarg. — FNA9, Phipps, O’Kennon, & Lance (2003); > Crataegus padifolia Sarg. var. padifolia — FNA9, Phipps, O’Kennon, & Lance (2003). Basionym: Crataegus padifolia Sarg. 1908
