Crataegus sutherlandensis Sargent. Common name: Sutherland Springs Hawthorn. Phenology: Late Mar-Apr; Sep-Oct. Habitat: Streamsides, thickets. Distribution: Sc. TX.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Assumed to be of hybrid origin and similar to C. ×atrorubens Ashe in being part of a complex of Virides - Molles interserial hybrids named from 1900 to 1922 from the region of MO, AR and TX, but distribution is more westerly and the taxon needs further analysis.

Synonymy : Crataegus sutherlandensis Sarg.; = Crataegus sutherlandensis Sarg. var. spinescens Sarg. — Tx, Phipps, O’Kennon, & Lance (2003); = Crataegus sutherlandensis Sarg. var. sutherlandensis — Tx, Phipps, O’Kennon, & Lance (2003).
