Crataegus viridis Linnaeus var. lanceolata (Sargent) E.J. Palmer. Common name: Lanceleaf Green Hawthorn. Phenology: Late Mar-late Apr; Sep-Nov. Habitat: Moist forests and woodlands, streamsides, calcareous uplands. Distribution: SC to FL, w. to e. TX, AR; range sympatric with much of the typical variety of the species.

Taxonomy Comments: Assignment of var. lanceolata is sometimes problematic due to intermediacy of leaf shapes seen in the wide variation of var. viridis; this taxon perhaps deserving forma status.
