Gouania lupuloides (Linnaeus) Urban. Common name: Chewstick, Whiteroot, Jaboncillo, Toothbrush-tree. Phenology: Aug-Mar. Habitat: Maritime hammocks, mesic hammocks, rockland hammocks, coastal berms. Distribution: C. and s. FL peninsula, disjunct northwards in Clay County, ne. FL; West Indies; Mexico through Central America.
