*Viola arcuata Blume. Section: Plagiostigma. Subsection: Bilobatae. Phen: Chasmogamous flower May. Hab: Lawns. Dist: Native of e. Asia. Found in Bronx, NY and n. NJ (Ballard, Kartesz, & Nishino 2023).

ID notes: This species is distinctive in its broadly reniform-deltate cauline leaves with somewhat remotely low-serrate margins, but the occasionally white corolla, short spur, and basally reclining stems could be confused with V. striata if the proportionally broader leaf blades were ignored. The commonly node-rooting basal portion of the stems and slender entire to remotely denticulate stipules would distinguish this species.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Synonymy: = Ballard, Kartesz, & Nishino (2023); = n/a – FNA6
