Liatris pycnostachya Michaux var. lasiophylla Shinners. Hairy Prairie Blazingstar. Phen: Jul-Nov. Hab: Longleaf pine sandhills and other dry loamy pinelands and oak woodlands. Dist: S. MS and se. LA west through w. LA to ne., e., and se. TX. Locally common in the southern Loess Plains on roadsides and loamy longleaf pine woodlands.
