Crataegus beata Sargent. Common name: Rochester Hawthorn. Phenology: Apr; Oct. Habitat: Pastures, thickets. Distribution: A northern species, distributed from NY to WI, s. to OH; ? VA, NC, TN.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Allied to C. populnea Ashe and differing primarily by its 20-stamened flowers; also similar to C. schuettei Ashe, from which C. beata differs in its hard or dense mature fruit flesh.
