Crataegus intricata Lange var. fortunata (Beadle) R.W. Lance. Yellow-fruited Hawthorn. Phen: May; Sep-Oct. Hab: Hardwood forest edges, rock outcrops, thickets. Dist: PA and WV; disjunct in w. NC (known in NC only from Chimney Rock Mountain in Rutherford County).
ID notes: Yellow fruit, pink anthers and rather thick-textured leaves distinguish this taxon from other regional varieties of C. intricata.
