Crataegus quaesita Beadle var. floridana (Sargent) R.W. Lance. Common name: Jacksonville Hawthorn. Phenology: Late Mar-Apr; Aug-Sep. Habitat: Oak-pine forests, sandy scrublands. Distribution: Se. NC to c. GA, s. AL, s. to Panhandle and peninsular FL.
ID notes: Characteristic are the frequently spatulate leaves with a bluntly toothed or trilobate apex and small (6-8 mm) fruits. Crataegus laxa Beadle may represent an intermediate entity with C. ravenelii Sargent.
